showing of the hidden files

when i am trying to view the hidden files through folder options. In folder options even though i selected show hidden files when i come out of the folder options by applying and ok defaultly don't show hidden files is selected. I scanned my system with antivirus but i am unable to find any virus. I tried regsvr32 /i shell32.dll in run command but it doesn't working.. any one can help me.....
I am using windows xp sp2 os....

There is another check box
Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)

You can uncheck this to see if it will reveal other hidden files.

I also uncheck that option Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)
but it is not taking it is checked again even after i uncheck that...
