| OS install on RAID ABIT VP6 I have a problem installing an OS onto my VP6 RAID system. The info that follows is where I am in this operation. RAID O is correctly configured in the Highpoint 370 BIOS. When installing WinXP Pro (or Win2K Pro) the two drives are seen as one 80 Gig drive and it is formatted in NTSF. As Windows continues its setup, it gets to a point of rebooting. At this point, if the Window CD is left in the drive (SCSI) there is an endless loop, where it is found as a “Bootable Disk” (once again) and the install sequence begins again. If the Windows CD is removed, the POST goes up to “Verifying DMI Pool Data…….” and hangs. Nothing I do can get me past this point. Here is a partial configuration of the system: An Abit VP6 board with the latest YT BIOS. Sony DVD burner on IDE1. Asus DVD/CD drive on IDE2. Maxtor ATA133 40Gig on IDE3 RAIDO and a Maxtor ATA133 40 Gig on IDE4. All drives are set as Master. Also, an Adaptec 19160 PCI controller running a Plextor SCSI CD burner. I use this drive as the boot drive to install the Windows OS. In the BIOS “Advanced BIOS Features” I have set the First, Second and Third Boot device to “ATA100RAID”. In the “Integrated Peripherals” section the ATA100RAID Controller is Enabled. What do I do to finish the OS install and get the OS to boot from this DMI Pool Data point? I built the machine a couple of years ago without using the RAID feature using a slower HD. Now I have two matched HDs that are faster and I want to use the RAID capability.
I am open to all help. Thank you for your consideration in this problem of mine.
