Another "no signal" question

Hi, recently my Mother got me an older computer. I was cleaning it out and accidentally deleted some Windows 95 files. Well, we tried installing the old hard drive from our other computer and that wouldn't work. So, now I've found the files I need to replace (some dll files), but when I turn on the computer the screen says NO SIGNAL OR IN SAVE MODE. I don't think it is the signal, because nothing should've happened to the video card and the monitor is hooked up correctly from what I can tell. It comes up with Save Mode if I leave it on, but I can't seem to get out of the mode to actually boot the computer so I can try restalling files.

Hi,
Do you have the Windows 95 install disks?
If so, you can download files from here:
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
They can be used to make a floppy boot disk for Win95, and will allow you to get to the C:> promt. You can then format the harddrive, and re-install windows, but only if you have the install disks for 95.
When you say you deleted some windows operating files, you may not be able to re-install all the windows operating system files by just copying them back, without reinstalling windows.

If you have a no signal display then the problem is physical not software related. The possibilities are:
- monitor cable (sometimes called the VGA cable) in defective or not connected to the video port on the computer
- monitor cable pluged into the wrong video port (I bring this up because I've seen many computers with onboard video, which is disabled, and an add-in video card)
- video card is defective or not seated properly in the PCI or AGP slot.

Since you said part of the problem was that if left alone, it will start in Safe Mode (you said "save" mode, so I assume you meant "safe" mode), here is a link:

After getting to the web page, click on the link "Windows 95 starts in Safe Mode". There are step-by-step instructions you can print out, as to what to do, and what to check on.

Actually Fred, I believe what they meant was save mode - as in Power Save Mode.
