Recovering old files

Hi!

So a friend of mine is installing XP on his new laptop (Dell) that came with Vista. About half way through the install, he realized there was a very important folder that he forgot to copy off.

Is there any way he can recover that folder? It is the My Pictures folder.

Would a system restore work?

Nope, since to install XP he had to reformat the drive first.

Gotta spread the rep but he is right on target.

Once your friend changed the opp. sys. that file is now gone for good.

What about the windows.old file?

I should also mention that he did not fully install it. He got to the point where it askes for your name and company information and then he quit.

By that time, the new install was complete.

Sorry, he's out of luck on this one.
