Laptop mouse wont move cursor on screen

Using a Toshiba laptop only 1 year old. Turned it back on today and I cannot get the built in mouse to move the cursor on the screen. I can navigate using tab and made it to the Control Panel then Mouse. It did not display anything as far as any mouse driver being installed. How can I get this mouse through the built-in touchpad to move the cursor again?

I tried to click TROUBLESHOOT in the Mouse section, but it would not accept the click. It appears that my mouse driver disappeared.

I can see the cursor, but cannot move it using the touchpad. The right and left click buttons do not work either.

What should I do?

Sounds like the drivers for the built in mouse aren't loading properly. Have you tried a reboot? Tried using System Restore?

Hi, Zix,
This may or may not help your issue, but think it's worth a look.
Toshiba laptop touchpads, if you have a touchpad, can be "enabled" or "disabled" by pressing the FN + F9 keys.
That might lead you to discovering what to do.
Best of luck.

dayannie : It was the first answer that lookded into the simple solution instead of going straight to a more complex solution.

The SOLVE was to remove the laptop battery and put in back in. I guess it had something to do with static discharge buildup?
