| | | Blue stop screen error message When I tried to turn on my pc the other day it went to the screen that said, " We apoligizde for the inconvience, but windows did not start sucessfully.
A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectly or was automatically shutdown to protect your files and folder, choose last know good configuration to revert to the most recent that worked.
If a previous start up attempt was interrupted due to a power failure ro because the power or reset button was pressed or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, check start windows normally.
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last known configuration ( )
Start windowns normally" I have tried all these 5 different things and it coninues to go to a blue screen that say,
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmention or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for nay updated drivers.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Teck. Info:
^^^ STOP: 0x00000024
(0x00190203, 0x8239d9a0, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000) Please help me. I can't do what is says in follow these steps cause it won't let me do anything but the two screens. It will let me press f2 and f12 but I don't know what to do from there. I can't go to help and support or my pc control panel. Anything of that sort. | Sounds like it needs a chkdsk run on the drive. If you have another computer you can do this by putting the hard drive into your other machine and going to command prompt and typing:
chkdsk <drive letter>: /f /r
Hope this helps,
Louis. |

| I don't have another pc. I am using my moms to do "ask questions" about my pc. I found out I am able to hit the f12 and then enter the #6 for a hardware diagnostic It passed all test except for one where you are suppose to say a name out loud and then you click ok and it is suppose to playback what was recorded. My did not play anything back. But other than that. ALL tests passed. Can I only run a CHKDSK with another pc? About how much does it run to find out whats wrong withy my pc? Also Is there anyway I would be able to save my pictures/music if unable to get my pc back? |

| If you have your system disk youycan do a Repair installation
Repair Installaion
A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.
A Repair Install will replace files altered by adware and malware, but will not fix an adware, malware problem. Perform a Repair Installation |

| I tried this and same thing. When it says to press any key to reboot (from cd) I pree any key and it goes to the black error screen and then to the blue error screen as before. Even if I don't press any key to reboot, it still after several seconds will automatically put me back at the black error screen and then on to the blue screen as before. I don't know if this will help narrow the problem down. Hoepfully but for the better. Well reply soon as you get a chance if you have any other sugguestions. I really appreciate your help. Thanks. | It is a Dell 4550 series desk top windows xp. I have run the text like from pressing f12 / #6 and it passed all tests. I do have the reinstalling cd that come with the pc. On the reinstall cd it says "windows xp service pack 1 reinstallation cd." I tried rebooting fromt he cd and still same thing. I put the cd in and it says press any key to boot. So I press any key and it after about 2-3 seconds goes to the black error screen and then on to th blue error screen. I don't know what a recovery cd is. |
