When can I expect to start to see results?
    Hi

I joined the GYM May 1st and go 3 times a week- 30 minutes on elliptical and 30 minutes with weights.

    When I joined I was 163 pounds- now I'm 165... WTH?

Am I gaining muscle weight? When will I start to lose the FAT so I can see results on the scale!

You mentioned you go to the gym but you didn't mention your eating habits. Which can play a role with gaining weight.
Are you working with a personal trainer at all?

A personal trainer once told me: "never rely on a scale, get a measuring tape and see how many inches you've shed; if you don't have one see if those tight jeans fit you better- your clothes will tell you if your doing good."

To conclude, yes it is possible your gaining muscle, especially if your exercising with weights.

Try increasing your cardio time; and instead of keeping it 3 days a week do some cardio everyday.

    This includes:
    •Jogging
    •Swimming
    •Jumping Jacks
    •Speed Walking
    •Jumping Rope
•Skiing ← I understand you may not be able to do this now, but I'm just putting it "out there"
    •Biking
    •Step Aerobics
    •Rowing
    •Rock Climbing
    And my favorite: Handball

    Good Luck!

No doubt you are burning fat and replacing it with muscle. Since muscle is heavier than fat, that explains your 2-pound weight gain. Pay attention not only to the scale but the mirror as well. You should notice your body becoming more toned and defined. Your abdomen should shrink and become less flabby, even if the scale is telling you you've gained a few pounds. Also notice your clothes ; upper garments (shirts, etc.) should feel more snug and lower garments should feel more loose. These are the true signs that your exercise program is paying off.
