Im 20 and trying to lose weight for summer. I weigh 220. I have lost some weight but i just can seem to keep going. Its like I am addicted to food. I have a gym membership and I like to go. I loce to run and i dont get winded but it kills myfeet because i am horribly flat footed. can someone give me some pointers on how to just keep going, stop eating so much and how to make me feet feel better?

Hi Jenn,

It will be hard in the beginning. The first thing I would do is put up a poster on the fridge, in the bedroom, on any mirrors that you use frequently of your idol or the picture that drives you to want to lose weight. Also get a scale in your private bathroom. Use this every day and log it on a chart. It will act as a personal benchmark and keep you in tune with what you do daily. Everybody falls off the wagon but get back on and continue. Even if the weight doesn't come off weekly try not to gain but continue to go down in weight. If food is driving you crazy, then start by substituting with a healthier choice. An apple instead of a bag of chips. Drink more water also. Any kind of fruit or raw vegetable instead of junk food will help. Being flat footed will not prevent you from your goals. Good luck. Ace

lovelesspa disagrees: all good except the weight checks every day, you should only weight in once when your starting and then about every 2-3 wks after that, if she dosen't see changes or she see a slight gain, it will discourage her

Being addicted to the wrong food is not a help if your trying to accomplish weight loss.
The first thing to do is go through your kitchen and get rid of all your junk food, cakes, cookies, chips, colas. Stock up on veggies and fruits, try switching to wheat products like wheat bread, pastas, rice. Broil or bake your lean meat in olive oil or canola, use the new spreads instead of margarine or butter. Don't fry food, don't eat fast food, or fried anything. Cut out colas and any drinks that have high frutose corn syrup in them. If you like ice cream try frozen yogurt, it's really tasty and very low in calories. Use low fat dailry products, and choose lean cuts of meats, chicken, turkey, no processed meats. Eat natural, low fat, low calorie, low sugar products in small serving, drinks lots of water. When you want to eat a sandwich load it up with turkey and lettuce and all the veggies possible and use low fat or no fat mayo. Talk to your gym people and tell them what you can do that won't hurt your feet, theres weights and soft impact exercises you can till do. And I'm sure they will advise you to whats best for your feet problems. You need to exercise that's #1, at least 30-60 minutes a session 3-4 x per week. It's going to take a little bit of time but you can do it.
