A 2000 calorie a day diet is healthy. If you have never dieted I do not recommend you start with calorie counting. Healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a month. But you need to keep in mind that at your age most of your weight is developmental. Because your body isn't fully mature yet it uses those fat stores when growing. Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't necessarily want to lose weight, especially if you are cheerleading, you want to focus on toning your body, making your muscles more flexible and strong. Pilates is a good start, its an exercise system that focuses on your muscles and toning. Running is also a very good way to tone your legs, but more than that, it's great for your cardiovascular system (cardio).
When you start working out you might actually gain a little weight before you lose it, muscle weighs more than fat, so as you start to get your body into a better shape for you, the first month or so this might be a bit of a shocker.
Having said that you need to make sure that you are trying to lose weight for the right reasons. Losing weight for other people isn't going to do much for your self image. But changing your body for the positive is going to make you feel better about yourself. Good luck with cheerleading, pom poms are awesome!
