Diet and exercise. Look at what you are eating or drinking. If you drink a lot of soda - then stop and drink lots of water.
    Eat more fruits and veggies.

Start and exercise program. If it is just walking a certain amount a day. Or get a work out tape and do that each day (or 3 days a week)

I am also 16 and I live in England and I am around the same weight as you. I am not completely sure but I may be a little less. I know that I need to lose a lot of weight because I am not happy with my body at all! In a few weeks (after my school prom, so I am not too small for my dress) I am going to try a diet where I basically stop all the snacking that I do and instead of eating unhealhy, high fat things between meals, exchange that for a cereal bar or something like that. I am also going to have a bowl of cereals for breakfast and then again for my lunch. Apparently this works, as long as you eat a low fat cereal and not all the chocolate cereal rubbish that is around these days!

Good luck and I hope you loose the weight you want to, but remember not to loose too much, because evethough you think you need to loose a lot, too much is unhealthy and often dangerous! But good luck anyway!

No sugar, no white bread, no potatoes, no pasta, no white rice. Eat meat, fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits. Brown rice and whole wheat bread are OK. Exercise.

You lose weight by controlling your diet and by exercising. Period.

There are lots of different ways to approach food. I've had friends who had success with low carb diets. Personally, before you go too extreme with any diet I would look at a few other ways to modify your food. Portion control is one of the easiest to do... this doesn't mean starve yourself... whatever you do... don't fast. It'll crash your metabolism. You need to fuel your body. Start with smaller portions. Use a smaller dinner plate. Eat slower. Make sure you are getting as much veggies and fruits as you are getting meat and carbs. You'll find within a week or so of simply taking smaller portions that you are full without taking so much in.

Also... eat more often in the day. This can mean breakfast is something like a banana and a whole grain toast with peanut butter... a late morning snack of lean sandwich meat and cheese... a reasonable lunch... a late afternoon snack of nuts (oven roasted, low salt macademias, almonds, cashews, sunflowers), and then a moderate dinner... dinner should not be your biggest meal of the day, even though we tend to do that. Why put all that food in your body when you are starting to wind down?

As mentioned, cut out the junk food. Now.. sometimes you need a "fix"... sometimes you get a change at a great meal. Take it. If my wife needs a chocolate fix she's better off getting that one fantastic truffle and enjoying it instead of "eating around" it... basically not getting satiated and in the end eating more calories than needed. Also, I think its good to occasionally have a bigger meal to confuse your body, just as you sometimes need to rest your body and not workout. Just think about how you fuel your body.

    Take a good multivitamin.

Next... you must move your body to increase your metabolism. An increased metabolism with a diet of food that is good for you, dispersed throughout the day will help you lose weight. But you have to work out.

If you can workout in the morning, do it. It does several things. It cranks up your metabolism for the earlier part of the day, when you are likely to be eating... and it also gets the workout done. No putting it off until later. No excuses. Get it done and over with. You might even find later in the evening you'll feel like another workout or a simple walk.

Walking, running, biking, swimming all get your body moving and your heart rate up. You need to stretch a lot. You need to be patient... it takes a few weeks often for your body to get used to a new routine... you might just be cranking things in when they come back... so what? You will be primed to be fitter and stronger, even if you still have weight you want to lose. Sustainable weight loss comes from a deliberate plan and reasonable goals.

Other ways to workout include dvds... many public libraries carry exercise vids that you can "rent" for free.

So... start by walking if you aren't active. You need a good pair of shoes. Try walking for an hour. At a decent pace you should cover 2-4 miles, depending on how fast you are. Don't just rely on walking... the reason athletes cross train is to work their entire bodies, but also it keeps their bodies "guessing"... you want your body to be confused... to think it needs to fuel your workouts by burning more food and fat.

Find a workout buddy if you can. Nothing like another person to help you stay on track and to be company while you exercise. Get good sleep. Also rest your body when it needs it. I workout about 5-6 days straight, then I stop for a few. You body needs to be able to heal and strengthen. Also, I work different muscles different days. Yesterday was all about the legs and lungs with walking, running, cycling, and stairs. My legs are grumpy today so ill hit the weights and do upper body stuff and probably a short walk in the evening.

Glad you are looking to be more fit. Seriously... don't spend a lot of time on the scale. Spend time thinking about your food and eating well, and spend time moving your body... do this and you will lose weight and be more fit... start this now and no matter how much you have or haven't lost... chances are you are going to feel better and you will be started down a path that will show you great results with simple effort and determination.

    terrible advice!!

This poster (samir72) states this is a proper diet, and then in his/her own post mentions that this diet is leaving him/her feeling fatigued! I wonder if the issues with gall bladder removal and subsequent liver issues are tied to this persons previously bad choices in dieting.

Do not give advice to others when that advice is obviously failing you. To tell one person to eat 50% less and the turn right around and state it is failing you is really improper.

It really is not that complicated.

All you have to do is burn more calories each day, than you consume.

Eating healthy, limiting portions, skipping desserts and junk food, and plenty of good vigorous exercise will do the trick.

I found this table, perhaps it may be of some help to you.

If your metabolism is slow then eating white meats like turkey breast is a good way to speed it up, white meats and fish, your also allowed to eat bread but not the kind that is full of fat, they have bread that is a really good kind and I think it is the bimbo bread, I think its mexican bread but its not bad for a bread type. This is just my body type, I am a body type B so my metabolism is slow but excersize makes me lose fast but it won't stay off, by eating the right foods you can lose weight. Your metabolism is how fast your body digests food that you consume. The slower your metabolism is the more time your body has to take the fat from the foods.

Yeah exercise and cut the carbs out, but make sure you don't skip any meal. You should make sure your snacks are healthy. Mind you that if you skip meals then your body will start to store the fat so starving yourself and skiping meals is the best way to keep that fat on your body no matter how much you diet and exercise. Cut the carbs out and soda and starch and exercise at least an hour a day. Make sure you have 3 snacks and 3 meals... meals should be small. And don't eat after 6pm... if your hungry have some fruit or drink water. Good luck
