It is not good if you have a thyroid problem and if you stay on it for too long you can develop a thyroid problem as well as vitamin deficiencies if you don't take supplements.
Also do not take if you are taking blood medications because the vitamin K can amplify the effects of anticoagulants.
Do not take if using Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors used to treat depression. They inactivate naturally occurring enzymes in your body that metabolize tyramine, a substance found in many fermented or aged foods. Tyramine constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure
Also if you use too much salt it counteracts the purpose of the cabbage diet.

It is good for cleansing your digestive system and building necessary enzymes as well as an antioxident.
You could try my diet on my site it is more suitable as a lifestyle than fad diets

After 5 days on the diet, my wife started hallucinating and though I was a evil head of cabbage. She started beating me with a vacuum cleaner attachment. Don't do it! Just eat a little less and exercise a little more. It is a matter of lifestyle, not crash diets. In the long run, they really do not work.

I have a friend who has tried it. cabbage soup, water, grapefruit. she also ran roughly 3 miles a day. on day 7, she collapsed at the treadmill. slight arrythmia.

there is nothing good about depriving your body of what it actually needs to run on.

this is an analogy:

instead of putting gas in my car, i'm going to put in cooking oil. sure, it's still flammable, just not nearly enough. who knows, the car may run, but sooner or later, it'll fail...and you may have to rip apart your engine block to fix the problem.

losing anything above 5 lbs a week is extremely unhealthy. side effects include: vomiting, nausea, feeling faint, dizziness, long term heart/kidney problems. I would NOT advise this.

This is a better idea:

eat a balanced meal. exercise. drink plenty of water. avoid chips, sodas, chocolate, ice cream, candy, etc.

The only thing you're loosing on a diet like this is water-weight and essential vitamins. You will, no doubt, gain back the weight you lost.... if not more. Not to mention, nobody will want to be around you when you eat that much cabbage.

Diets are really "lifestyle changes". Think about it, if its only good for 7 days, how could it keep weight off? If you want to keep weight off, you have to adopt healthy lifestyle changes.

N0help4u agrees: yep fad diets are only good short term to cleanse system followed by regular long term lifestyle change of eating habits

I did it 10 or so years ago, and lost weight, but then the next week some comes back, you do it again and some comes back,

It just does not stay off, since you need to have a balanced diet with exercise.
