My son is getting married. His future wife does not wish to have any children at the wedding. However, his sister will have an infant only 1 month old at the time of his
wedding and they do not have a babysitter. What should they do?

Talk to the bride, see if an exception can be made. Otherwise, if the reception is at a hotel or other large venue, see if a baby sitter can come care for the baby in the room. That way mom and dad can come check on the baby when they want.

If the bride won't relent, and no sitter can be found, make sure the bride knows this means the sister won't be able to come. Might work as a guilt trip.

Well basicly I have a personal rule, unless the wedding party provides a child care at the wedding, I don't go. A wedding is a family event, something fun for everyone, and personally I think the idea of no kids is silly, so personally I just would not go.
Or if it was my brother or sister getting married I would just do what I wanted anyway ( well actually I would do what I wanted anyway if it really wanted to.

But if they do not want children they should be providing a day care at the service for those with kids.

I agree, Chuck. Unless the wedding is very, very formal or very, very small, I see no reason to exclude children, especially when there are children in the immediate family of the bride and groom. And, as you said, if children are excluded, the bride and groom should offer care for them.

I don't normally advocate guilt trips, but in this case I think it's necessary. You aren't talking about a random co-worker's child, you're talking about a family member being excluded because of age. That's just nuts.
