Red eyes

Flourescent lights cause my eyes to be red. Without fail when I go to stores like Walmart, etc, my eyes turn red.

Do you know of anyone who have had the problem and found something that works.

My last complete vision exam, they said my eyes were healthy but I still have this problem.

Several years ago, I did try a few over the counter eye drops, but they didn't help.

Any suggestions will be appreciate.

Thanks in advance.

I often have this problem. I do have poor eyesight (nearsighted), but I get my eyes checked twice a year and they are healthy. I'm not sure what causes it exactly.

My eyedoctor said that sometimes flourescent lights and computers, TV.s etc. can cause strain to the eyes. I have noticed that whenever I use a computer or am in bright light,my eyes get red. One thing he recommended was to stop and close your eyes for a few minutes after being in bright lighting.

Another thing is something I learned in yoga called 'palming'. You place the palm of your hand over your closed eye and hold it there for a few minutes. You don't push on the eyeball, just push gently on the area around the eye. This is supposed to help the muscles relax and increase circulation to the area. It seems to help me when my eyes feel strained.

You didn't say if you wore glasses or not. I wear glasses and have them coated against glare. I am allergic to flourescent lights and get bad headahces from them and found that having my glasses coated against glare really helped me.

rockerchick26 agrees: YES! Anti-Glare (AR) is a great way to reduce glare from computer screens and flurescent lighting!
