Portuguese Passport

I am studying in the Uk, and I am seeking information on how to apply for a Portugueses passport.Although I wasn't born in India, I am of goan origin, holding an Indian passport. My father was born in Mumba,i but his father was born in Goa before 1961.
My mother was born abroad but her mother was born before 1961 in Goa and had a Portuguese passport which she had to surrender for an Indian Passport, until then my mother too was on my grandma passport as a dependant but after she surrendered the passport my mother too got an Indian passport.

Although,my parents have been married abroad, they have been residing in Goa for a long time now.

Given the above info,I would like to know if I qualify for a portuguese passport.

I am not 100% sure of the exact facts and time spans , but - before Portugal joined the European Union they set aside a period for citizens of their territories to apply for full portugese passports.

After this period you could still get a Portuguese passport as long as the grandparents were born in Portugal. This is fact because me nephew in Brazil has needed the birth certificates etc; of his grandmother and grandfather.

You can of course double check at the Portuguese Consulate.

boa sorte.
