My boyfriend and i plan on traveling to get married in a small ceremony.. not sure where maybe Fiji... What i was wondering was I know he needs to be pardoned (drug charge, adulthood) but i was told that i needed a pardon too.. i have nothing but a youth record. (kid stuff, stealing from stores etc... wish i had never done it. dont condone it but my childhood was rough) Do i need to be pardoned...? where would we go to get this pardon and how much would it cost. i was also told it would be very expensive.. like very very expensive... PS.. i live in Nova Scotia Canada
I'm just guessing.... There's a pardon you apply for to be excused for your crime... I don't know if Canada has an equivalent procedure.... But, I don't believe it's that kind of pardon they're talking about, in any case....
When an American felon wants to travel to Canada, he needs to apply for a "pardon" from the Canadian Immigration authorities in order to be let in.
I'll bet that's the kind of pardon you need, IF you need a pardon at all. I dunno that Fiji has that rule. Most countries don't. I'll bet Fiji doesn't.
So, it's not leaving Canada that you need a pardon for. It's entering the country that you want to go to.
Excon, havnt seen any posts from you in a while. must have been hiding in another part of the forum .... Yes.. its a pardon to be excused for our crime... we do have it here in canada... i was told that most countries need you to be pardoned... is that not true then?
No, it's not true. Not even close. Most of the world doesn't care about your criminal history. They care about how much money you're going spend.
Here in the US, a passport is available to felons just like everybody else. It's no more difficult for a felon to get one, either. I can't imagine that Canada would refuse to give you passports.
Well we'll have plenty of money to spend LOL... Do you know where i could find out about obtaining a passport and getting a pardon in canada... Also.. going to add this question just because i'm wondering...
I am second generation canadian.. my grandparents landed at pier 21 fleeing from the germans from holland.... My Oma and Opa (grandmother and grandfather) had dual citizenship in both holland and canada... would it be eaiser for me to get citizenship >>correction.. would it be possible to get citizenship in holland since my family is from there and we have not lived in canada for a very long ammount of time...
I suggest that you simply apply for a passport. IF they don't give it to you, they'll tell you why, and probably set out the appeals process.....
IF, and/or WHEN they turn you down, come back and we'll take the next step.
But, they ain't gonna turn you down. Think about it. Wouldn't Canada want to get RID of its felons???? Why would they MAKE them stay in Canada where they can do more damage???? Nope, they'll give 'em passports and hope they never come back.
LOL excon... i didnt think my youth record would matter but his is a drug posession charge from a few months ago.. if or when they turn me down i will totally be back to wrack your brain some more... i didnt know things like that could be appealed
