My mother was born in France. Can I get a French passport?

Asked Jul 19, 2012, 08:57 AM —
Hello,

My mother was born in France in 1935, but didn't have French citizenship. We contacted the town hall, and they have proof that she was born there.

Would this allow me to get a French passport? I am American, never lived in France, and don't know French (though I can learn).

Thank you, in advance!
