I received me passport a couple of months b4 n there surname of my mother is spelled incorrectly from Deshpande to Keshpande. As all of us can observe it is the result of stroke of same finger but by an incorrect hand. Can any one please tell me what should i do to get it corrected or is it really needs to be corrected....

If you mean foreign passport, contact the consulate who issued your passport. If this is US passport, contact passport agency with notarized copy of your ID and birth certificate (and marriage registration/divorce decree if you have name changed).
