Portuguese Passport

A friend's father was born in Portugal and he was born in South Africa, would the friend qualify for a Portuguese passport and if so what would he need to get and do to apply for the passport.

portugese passport

Your brother needs to go back to South Africa to apply for a portugese passport. I'm not sure they would be able to help him here in London though he could give it a try. But I do know things would go quicker if your Dad is with him at the Embassy, especially if you can converse in portuguese as the officals get rather irritated if you can't speak portugese!

Friends have just received their portugese passports after waiting 3 years so be prepared, it does sometimes tend to take a long time.

But best would be for your brother to apply for a postuguese passport in South Africa rather.
