PLAYSTATION 2

Hi,... I would like to know if there is a way for me to reset my playstion2 or something. I can't seem to play my DVD's anymore, it used to play them but now it says: ERROR READING DISK
Is there a way for me to fix this problem?
I can't find the manual for it either can I find it online?

if the disc is copied or illegally made(and was done in a bad way), it will show that...

You sometimes get this message with the slightly older PS2 versions. The discs may be perfectly legit, but won't read. Check the site below for info on how to resolve this problem.

NO, you are not screwed. There are many different ways to repair your disk read errors. The simplest and most effective is placing two band-aids or peices of tape parallel on the top of the disk. this will create pressure and help the disks get read. If that doesn't work, then tell me and there's something else you can try.

I had that error on my PS2, it was still under warranty so I took it back to the store. I was told by the assistant that some of the lasers on the PS2's (mine is a V4/5 board) were faulty and Sony were replacing these when they were returned.

It played DVDs fine for ages and then gave up just like that - at the same time it still played the games ? Weird huh ? Anyways I got a replacement and ever since its been fine - how old is yours ?
