touch pad scrolling glitch

I have a Compaq Presario C304NR notebook. It runs Windows XP and is equipped with a touch pad that has lines on the bottom and sides for touch scrolling. The touch scrolling works great everywhere except when I open an email message in Outlook Express 6. I have downloaded the newest version of the driver, and that hasn't helped. It is a Synaptics TouchPad Pointing Device v10.0.13.2. Thanks for any help.

I downloaded the driver again today, and it still works the same. However, when I turned the laptop on this evening, with OE up and running, CPU is running between 2% - 7%. This is getting strange. I will try your suggestions and see what happens. Thanks.

Hello, I have a brand new toshiba L300 withthe same issue. you can scroll through the emails but not the message body. It is a compatability issue with outlook express.

I am a computer tech of 4 years and have never had anyone complain about this untill last night, Your cpu usage has nothing to do with this but i will try to figure it out in the next few days or have you already fixed this, If so please send me the info. Thanks

I finally gave up and just switched to another email program. Thanks for all the suggestions.
