Which one should I pick? Part 2 of 2 parts.

Both towers use Winows XP professional (with SP#2) operating system.

SUBJECT: After purchasing the better migration software package.
What accessories go along with the software?

Both towers are equipped with Belkin hi-speed PCI cards.

The distance between the two towers is around 180 inches.
I prefer not to move the two towers any closer.

Because of the distance, I've been told by a technican that I require
a speical USB cable.

Question: What kind of cable do I need?

Question: Where can I purchase this kind of cable?

...

I imagine the cable setup into the following way.

a Steren (6' or 10') AA USB 2.0 cable (506-360 or 506-460) type
$ 2.00 to $ 5.00.
connected to ...

the special cable @ $ 50.00.
connected to ...

a second Steren (6' to 10') AA USB 2.0 cable (506-360 or 506-460) type

Question: Is my thinking correct?
If not, could you give me some guidance?

Question: Or, should I drop the USB element from this project
and go with Firewire 1937?

Thank You.

Awaiting your response.

OilMan6.

Do the 2 machines have network cards? Are they or do you plan to network them?

If so, I would do that and use the File and Transfer Settings wizard. If they both have NICs, but you don't plan on networking them, get a crossover cable for a temporary network. It would probably be cheaper then getting a long USB file transfer cable.
