You can't work in health care or with children.... You are eligible for financial aid (fafsa) if you don't make too much money. Go to a local college and talk to a counselor and a financial aid assitant.

About career choices - your best advice is to go to a college admissions counselor and be honest. Ask what your education options are, as far as getting a degree and then using that degree for employment.

But in a carrer it also depends on what you like, for example my family is in the construction business, the plumbers and electricians there make more than most management people, and having a criminal record is almost commom amoung many in the construction industry, at least the ones we are usually finding to hire.

Also degrees in a field you may be able to have and start you own small business
