History of UCLA?

Hello, Everyone,
I hope you are doing well. I am trying to find out the history of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) - specifically, which university established it. As a student of San Jose State University (SJSU), some professors there have told me that SJSU started UCLA as one of its branches many years ago. However, my girlfriend said that UCLA was established by University of California, Berkeley (UCB), and she gave similarities between UCLA and UCB, such as their similar colors and mascot. I did a bit of searching but could not find anything pointing out who established UCLA at all.

Thanks,
Victor Ly

Check out wikipedia. It's a great site - can lose a lot of time at work reading wiki!

I did find the information on Wikipedia, but that's a bit difficult to trust. I am trying to find more accurate sources. Thanks though!
