porcilen doll

I have this doll that my great grandmother gave me about 8 years or so, i would like to figure out how old it is and where it came from but i dont have any idea how to go about it. My great grandmother passed away and no one else in my family knows anything about it. If anybody knows anything about dolls or how i should get started please drop me a line

Take your doll to an antique dealer in your area. They might be able to give you some info. A qualified person should be able to tell you how old she is, and the origin. I collect antique dolls, but it's so hard to tell from just the picture.

Does she have moving parts? Do her eyes open and close? Does it appear she has human hair, as opposed to synthetic?

I have a 4th generation doll passed down to me by my father, by his great great grandmother. She is very old and fragile, and has hand knitted clothing, real eyelashes, and a handpainted face with alot of detail. The clues are in the detail.

You could also google the "Antique Road Show", and see if they have any other tips on there that might help.
