I need some help for my Yard Machine 1 year old with 12.5 hp B&S engine cut mower that has been parked in my garage for over 6 months. Last season It ran very well, but this season It wouldn't start after refilling the new gas that I just bought from the gas station...although the spark plug in my lawn mower has a good fire in the aluminum head.
The engine spins well when I turn on the key to start It.
When I trying to start the machine I did following:
I'm pressing the clutch pedal down all the way, and the blade engagement handle is hitting back the switch all the way while I try to start the machine.
I just recharged battery too.
Any suggestions on where to start next ? Thanks and God Bless!
If you got fire and engine rotation the next step is to give it a little gasoline down the carburetor. Remove the air filter and put a little fuel directly into throat of carburetor. If it starts and runs you win, but if it starts and dies you have a carb problem. If it does not start need to try other things.
I did follow your suggestions, but still same situation !
Today I replaced a new spark plug (the spark plug for starting) and I replaced once more time the new fuel after remove the bowl off carb and cleaned up... still nothing change !!???
Hi, Not sure if you are still looking for a fix. I was facing the same problem and this is a suggestion I got from grasswhacker. Might help you. My problem seems like its a bad battery.. am taking it in to be checked out tomorrow.

That's a common problem with yardmans. If it's the problem I am thinking of, then you have fuel loaded in the cylinder. Remove the sparkplugs, then try starting. if you get a blast of fuel all over, that was the problem. Reseat the plugs and it should start. Go to home depot and get a fuel line shutoff valve. when you shut down, shut off the fuel. When parked, the fuel keeps flowing to the cylinder until it is filled. Liguid doesn't compress, so the crank freezes up. It doesn't happen all the time, but happens way less with the valve in place.
