Weedeater TE 475 Broken Choke Lever

Hi there ...

I could use some help ... I broke the choke lever on my Twist and Edge 475 ... lovely plastic flip switch. I ordered a replacement part from my local small engine shop ... checked it against the old one as he was unsure of the type of carb over the phone based on the markings ... exactly the same part. I removed the disc ... pulled out the broken peice .. slipped in the new one .. inserted the disc.

The problem being ... 3 position's for choke ... full, half, run. The old original lever ... would remain at whatever position I had it in .. the new one does not. I've looked it over .. and I can't figure out what was holding it in postion .... there's no spring ... no nub that seats in a hole .. so I assumed it was simply an interference fit ... but it measures out within a thou.

Is anyone familiar with this model ...... and what holds the lever in the desired position?

Thanks very much for your time.

I did add a touch of tape where the lever seats in the throughole ..... it gave it enough interference to start and go through the three settings .... for a few minutes anyway.
