Snowblower pushes snow out the sides

Asked Dec 14, 2010, 12:02 PM — 4 Answers
Have a Sears 8HP /26 inch. Snowblower that seems to push the snow out the ends instead of toward the middle . I just got this at the end of last year and I changed the belts and shoes

Hi,
Sounds like the auger may be turning backwards, which would be a belt on wrong. Could be the shear pins though; bolts that secure the auger halves to the shaft and meant to break before something more serious does.
Peace,
Clarke

The belt can only go on one way and the shear pins are intact . I thought the auger might be on backwards ,but the shear pin holes would not match up . Thanks for the comment , I will keep trying to figure it out .

Finally figured out the previous owner had put the augers in backwards . I took the front off and reveresed the auger and it works great now .

How can I tell if my augers are on backwards??
Should they roll up or down at the very front leading edge?
Got stomped on with snow last night it took me at least twice as long to blow driveway.
Please and Thank you very much.

Snowblower leaves a trail of snow behind? [ 5 Answers ]

Hi, I just bought a 2006 Ariens 11528 snowblower. I've used it for two storms now and it leaves a trail of snow behind at every pass up and down of my driveway. It acts like it can't take in and discharge all the snow so it pushes it out the sides thus leaving a trail left and right as it travels....

Hi, I just purchased a Craftsman 10 hp snowblower and it leaves a pile line of snow approx. 6 inces deep only on the left side of the blower. The shear pins are fine. Can anyone give some suggestions as to what may be the cause of this problem. Thanks.
