    Remove the blower housing,
    Remove the old cord
    Rewind the spring
Insert new cord from inside or outside which ever is easiest,
Put knot in the end to the inside,
Pull loose rope through the holes
Tie a knot about a foot from the end of the rope
    Let go,
If you wond the spring correctly, it will take the rope into the rewind starter assembly up to the knot,
    Reinstall the blower housing,
    Pull bail brake handle,
Pull rope through the eye bolt
    Put on the handle,
USES ABOUT 7 FOOT OF ROPE.

I have a Murray/Briggs 6.0 engine mower and the pull cord is sticking. It will stop after pulling about 4 inches. Then if I jiggle the pull cord it will extend another 4 inches. I can see a plastic piece that seems to be stopping it at every four inches. What is causing this and what is the repair...
