Murray mower 17 hp with briggs 42a707would not restart dead

"i have a 14hp murray ride on lawnmower i have recently lost the key for it and today after 2 weeks of loseing the key i tried to start it useing a westwood key and its totally dead it wont do anything i was wondering if maby it has to be a proper key to st ..."

i have a 16.5 murray it will turn over but has no compression and is getting fire took the spark plug out and it dosent have any compression...can someone please tell me whats going on...i have never worked on one this is my first mower i bought and it was used dumb yes i know but please...
