Murray 16.5 HP OHV Briggs & Stratton engine
I have a murray with a Briggs & Stratton Engine. Have a new battery, new starter, and silonoid. When you turn the key, the engine turns a little bit and locks up. Take plug out and fuel pours out of engine. Turn key with no plug to get fuel out, put plug in will start. Once started, it will run and can turn off and restart as long as it is warm. Cold, the engine tries to turn but locks up. Can not for the life of me figure out why. Any solutions. Much appreciated

It sounds like your float valve in the carb is letting gas leak past it and through the carb into the motor when it's not running. It sounds like you need a good carb cleaning and a new float valve. Also make sure you have an inline gas filter to make sure no more dirt gets into the carb.

I went to start my riding mower for the first time this year and when it started is smoked real bad. I turned it off and checked the oil, it was over filled. I went to drain the oil and discovered it had gas in the oil. It ran fine last year, but I didn't drain the gas out at the end of the season....
