the mower that quits

I have an MTD push mower with a Tecumseh engine.
I was mowing my lawn and was 2/3 done and I stopped to get a drink.
After about ten minutes I tried to start the mower and it started an immediately stopped.
I can't figure out what is wrong with the mower and why it won't stay running.

HELP!
