Lawn Boy running rich

I have a F series engined Lawn Boy Special from about the mid to late 80's. It starts, runs and sounds fine and exhaust looks fine. However, it seems to use significantly more gas than my '95 Gold series Lawn Boy. I cleaned the carb a couple times and it didnt seem to help. I now need help diagnosing the problem.
