Install a drive belt on a lawn tractor

How do I install a drive belt on my 42" Craftsman lawn tractor. The belt is for the mower blades to turn. I have instruction on how to install it but I'm having difficulties getting the belt on the last pully. What the secret?

The last pulley really requires the spring tensioned idler pulley to be retracted all the way. Comments on this post BoxerLover55 agrees: it is accurate since I've never had to repair a lawn tractor before.
