the starter rope on my tiller broke and in trying to replace it, the recoil spring for the rope isnt accessable to rewind it so the rope will re wind . I hope the answer is simple and probably is , I just cant figure out how to get the starter cord replaced so I can use the tiller . Thank you for any advice on how to accomplish this project . John

Take the easy route. it's not worth struggling over. Just take off all the parts and take it to your favorite lawn mower shop. $20 later, fixed with new cord. No scraped fingers, no eyes poked out etc. Just make sure all the parts are there. Small parts in a separate zip lock inside the larger Zip lock.

I agree with the above, i tried replacing one on my chainsaw once what a disaster that was,coil came flying out and there was no putting that thing back in, believe me i tryed for two hours.
