    Hi,
First you will need a 1/4" nuudriver or socket to take the two screws holding the cover over the starter pinion and the one holding the dipstick tube. Then a 10mm to take the four bolts holding the blower housing, two at the front and two at the rear corners. Lift the housing to reveal the armature. A 1/4" socket takes the armature loose and then unplug the ground wire.
Then everything goes back together in reverse order. The magnets should be away from the armature being removed and the one going on at first. Loosely tighten the screws to the new armature(plug up the ground) and do notice that one side says "This Side Up" and the other "Cyl Side." The "Up" side must face up or it will not have fire. Take a business card or 0.010" feeler gauge and place it between the armature and flywheel. Carefully rotate the flywheel to line the magnets up centered at the armature, pulling it toward the flywheel and tighten the screws to lock the armature down. Rotate the flywheel to remove the gauge used and then a few times to make sure nothing scrapes. Then put the rest back together in the reverse order and you are done.
    Peace,

    Hi,
The armature is a 492341. If the wire is still servieable, then the terminal is 692424 and the boot is 691909.
<copied from another post by me>
The magnets should be used to "pull" in both legs of the armature simultaneously. The gap can be achieved by using an ordinary business card, putting it between the flywheel and armature legs, rotating flywheel to position magnets centered between legs, losing to achieve airgap and carefully tightening. Some people will mount the armature as far from the flywheel as possible, rotate into position, loosen screws holding the armature just enough to let it be attracted by the magnets and tightening. The card is then removed and the flywheel rotated by hand to check for rubbing.
    Peace,
    Clarke
