Hi all. Does anyone know how to replace the beater brush drive belt on a Dyson. I have a DC07 Animal (the purple one). If you look at it from underneath with the sole plate removed the belt goes round the beater bar and disappears upwards behind a plastic housing. I assume this must be removed but not sure.

A few instructions I have found to do this say you loop the belt around the beater and the spindle from the motor with no mention of the plastic housing that hides the whole lot. The housing I'm referring to is just behind the clear plastic flexible hose from the dust pickup head to the rest of the machine.

    Any suggestions anyone?

Hi, Just in case you come across this way later, as I have just done. You can EASILY reassemble the top cone if you have removed the 3 screws for cleaning. As always, make sure everything is dry, if you have rinsed it to clean. I actually reassembled the top of the cone, clipped on the main bin and it would not release. At this point, I could not get the bin back off, with the door latched. Fix: Simply, get around a 1/8 round doll rod, about 2-3 ft long, remove the 3 screws and top cap from the cone, put the rod down into the catch release and push gently, the bottom of the bin will open and you can then remove the bin from the cone. Now, put the cap back on, while carefully aligning the rod through the release mechanism, at the tip of the cone, down by the fins. Put the screws back in the top of the cone and replace the bin. You are now back in business. No need whatsoever to go buy a new cone assembly, that sounds like the owner of a fix-it shop to me. :D

How do I know, because I sell them in a retail store (which I will not say), have direct contact with a Dyson rep, and know everything I possibly can about them, oh and I own one too.
Also, ANYONE who says Dyson's are not worth the money or do not work good, is an idiot or owns a vacuum fix-it shop. Why? Because people who fix vacuums would be out of a job and business if everyone switched to a Dyson. That's the truth!

You are an idiot. I repair vacuums and dysons break too. Mostly because of user error, but they can have defects and things that normally need to be replaced.

I have the answer to the sucking problems. I also have a dyson and it would not pick up anything. I checked all the traps and cleaned off the roller and still nothing so I called dyson. They told me to turn the vacuum upside down and use a nickel and take off the bottom plate and then put it back on. It worked! It now works like a charm. They said sometimes that plate gets un-aligned and it will prevent it from sucking.

It was not the brush bent down it was the belt. The belt was warned out. You have to take out the belt and flip it to see.

Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me. My Dyson DC07 works very well, but after just a couple of minutes use it cuts out. I'm guessing it has something to do with the thermal cut-out, but what can I do about it? I've had it apart and can't find any blockages. Best regards, Rob

My Dyson 04 is not picking up properly, unless I push the front down with my foot. As soon as I alter the angle of the handle it stops picking up again until I press down on the front again. The suction is great, the cyclone is turning, I have removed the baseplate and reassembled it. Grateful for...
