Craftsman snow thrower auger does not release auger belt tension
I adjusted the auger cable tension on my craftsman 247.887000 to tighten a loose belt. When the auger bar is released however, the tension is not released so the augers continue to turn. Can I just lubricate the pivot point on the auger pulley assembly?

Might be to tight now, check the arm that tightens the idler when you pull handle, it should have a return spring in it . Make sure its pulling the arm back , and youmight lube the point where the arm pivots, Luck

I actually found the problem. I had a broken return spring on the auger assembly. I temporarily fixed it but will have to get a new spring. The old one isn't really pulling the assembly back to normal so the augers don't always stop turning when the bar is released. The end is racing. Sound like the choke is stuck. Not sure what to do about that.

I need auger gears for an old Ariens snow thrower model # 932006. They are not made anymore nor can I find a manual with part numbers. I snagged the auger with a broken tire chain and brought the auger to a halt. I have looked everywhere with no luck. Thanks
