how many belts does a craftsman LT1000 have? Where are it/they located?

Hi,
The model you name has two belts. One goes from the lower engine pulley to the deck, and the other is up inside the frame going from the upper engine pulley to the transmission with two idlers involved on one side. See the manual at this link and see pages 25 and 26:
