| | | I have a tip: Google it! There are a lot of "repeat" questions here or questions that could be simply searched through google, askjeeves, yahoo, etc.
Or simply look at the search on AMHD, chances are someone already asked what your asking.

| I think it's because they think their situation is different but it really ain't.
I stopped answers the "I think I pregnant" threads a long, long time ago.
The sad part is there is a sticty on top of page stated "if your think your pregnant please read" but nobody reads it. |

| Haha, it's pretty bad when someone who has only really been here a week notices the same thing...
People can find this site, (which isn't the FIRST thing on search engines) and go through all of the trouble of creating an account, finding the right category, posting, reviewing answers, replying, etc. just to get a single EASY question answered...
It is like SOO much HARDER to type your subject into google, :P |

| Google it does not have all the answers though. Maybe some subjects are good to have that information. People come here for the personal touch of an answer and google it most of the time whether you know the subject or not is not really always helpful.
So yes depending on the question, but not to google everything or that personal answer is lost. I feel sometimes that if you do not know how to answer a question, then do not answer it.
At the same time if people who come here have questions, and I would think they know how to google it as well, but Please remember that no matter how many times a question is asked by different people, and yes might get tiring but for that individual op there problem or situation is unique to them. We need to treat it as unique.

| You're right Joe, but sometimes you know as well as I, that sometimes they ask questions that are so easily accessible to them. Yes, the personal touch is a great thing, but I think some are just too plain lazy to look! Then when you go to the work of finding the info for them, they turn around and cuss you out for giving them the correct info., and want to argue with you. I don't mind looking it up for the people that seem like they haven't thought of ways to find out on their own. The pet forum is a really good example of that.
If some would only do a little research on their own first with the simple questions, it would free up our free time to answer things that are more important and in some cases where time is of the essence.
None of us would be here if we didn't want to help right? So it's the trivial things that get to me, especially when people have one post, get a bunch of good answers, and then don't even give a simple "thankyou!" |

Joe | I had that problem.
I googled a problem I had extensively and I then found this forum (it was my very first post.. awwww) I needed people to answer who had experienced the same thing I had.
Unfortunately I didn't get any answers other than the one's I had already googled |

| The thing is, we have to remember that many people have googled their question already. Maybe perhaps they didn't understand what they read and came to AMHD looking for someone to explain it to them; to interpret the info and put it in simpler terms. Also since there are actual people answering here, many people are looking to learn from someone else's personal experiences.
The threads that I have personally started, I googled to search for the answers before I posted here. More than likely I didn't get a comprehensible answer and needed someone to clarify and make it plain for me.
It actually annoys me that people go through and cut n' paste responses because I don't find it very helpful. Sure there are some questions here that have been asked a million times but maybe that person just needs to hear an answer catered to their specific situation. Sometimes I don't want to answer the same question over and over and over-- so I don't. I leave it for someone else. No need to post just for the heck of getting my post count up- I'd rather my responses to actually be helpful.
It really bugs me that we have people that go to sites and paste a page of info to answer a question when it's obvious that they have no idea what they're talking about. Sure, if I had an infinite amount of time on my hands, I probably could answer almost every question on this site by googling. But in the end it wouldn't really help the OP because I still haven't explained the info to them, rather regurgitated it.
So I think for the most part (of course there are exceptions), that we should take the info and summarize it.
Plus honestly, if we paste 500 lines of text from a google search, what are the odds that the OP is gonna read all of it? Highly doubtful. |

| Yeah, you can always tell when someone has copied and pasted, and then tried to pass it off as their own. That bugs me. I only google something when it's a straight forward answer, or when I maybe don't know the correct term for something, or need a little more info, so I don't further confuse the OP. |

But I think people just bypass that sticky. It even states "Please read" before they post the question. |
