I would like to hear from Canadian Actors who are acting in the U.S.A.

I am a Canadian living in New York City and working here as an Information Specailist under Nafta. I would also like to do some acting and get paid for it. Under NAFTA however, I can only legally works as an Info Specialist. Is there a way around this? If I get a role, can I get sponsorship from the production company to get paid for the role?
