Headphones to tv and surround sound

I have recently bought a new digital 26" Bush TV.
My Husband needs to use headphones all the time, but when he does I cannot hear any sound.
Is there a cable i can bye or a system I can use so that I can hear the sound as well as the headphones are being used?
He does have volume control on the headphones.
Thank you.
