DVD/VHS Recorder To Sony TV

I am trying to get my new Sony RDR-VXD655 DVD Recorder hooked up to my Dish Network Receiver to my KDL40XBR4 TV. I have HDMI Cables but cannot get it right. I would appreciate some help
