Can't remember the name of a late 90s show

When I was in Kindergarten, there was this show on the disney channel right before Mad Libs and I can't remember the name for the life of me! It was about this guy who was in a forest setting. He would pick up animals and describe what they were. I specifically remember an episode where he picked up this bright red frog and called it a tomato frog or something like that. I'm pretty sure this show was on animal planet for a while.
I know it's not the crocadile hunter, planets funniest animals or AFV. This really wasn't a kids show, I'm not sure why it was on disneychannel. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please help me, I'm going crazy trying to figure out the name!!!!!!!

Was it Jeff Corwin? I think he used to have a show on Disney.

What I remember most about Corwin is that he had a fascination with animal "scat." Always made a point to explain the texture and shape of that particular animal's droppings.
