I am looking for an old TV Series from the late 90's early 2000's

The series is about a writer who visits his hometown on an island. Soon after he arrived, some strange things starting to happen. People went missing or get killed, animals were slaughtered. The people starts to think that his homecoming is not a coincidence, because the same things happened when he was still living on the island and stopped after he left.

I am not quite sure but I think that the name of the Series was also the name of the main character.
He meets his brother and his aunt. His aunt was some how quite shocked that he is visiting home and had some sort of grudge against him, but don't show it directly to him. His brother on the other hand was very happy that he came back.

The aunt had a horse breeding farm and an old shack where the police found a murder weapon and arrested the head aid worker (more like a servant)
