I'm not sure about in New York but In California you can get arrested and that's abotu it. You don't get charged with anything you just get picked up by the police and dropped off back at your house by the police.

I don't know about the charges in NC. There are chances are getting arrested. But the most likley thing that will happen is once they find you you will be escorted home by the police and be given a big letchure. Which is no fun at all.

Don't do it. You have 2 more years till you can legally get out and get a job and a place to live. If your parents are doing something illegal speak with a school consoler and work on a plan with them. Otherwise stay put, get a job start saving money, make sure that if you still feel like running away when you turn 18 you have enough money for a car, security deposit and one months rent for an apartment in your area. Doing anything without a plan is a plan for failure.

Well if she is being abused, she needs to call the police.

But yes, if she runs away, she will be found, arrested, the courts can even find her deliquent and send her to juv detention or to foster care if she is not sorry for running away, and esp if she trys to run off again.

at 16 she has to go where her parents go, period,

First why are you running away? And just like the law anywhere they will put you in placement or foster home and sometimes those are worse then being at home. The older you get the more you'll see that being young is the best time of your life and not the worst. hang in there

well if your running away because of a move, trust me, don't do it. Just because your losing a place you love and friends you care for, only means you will make new friends and get to enjoy somewhere differant. I know this from moving as well when my folks split up. i know it hurts and stuff but it is part of how life works
