wrong form filed!

Hi,

I e-filed my 2007 tax returns, but I filed a wrong form. I filed form 1040 and this is the first year I qualified for EIC (because my income is within the limits w/ a qualifying child). I accidently filed the form 8862 (EIC after disallowance) and was never disallowed because I never qualified for EIC previosuly. Do I need to amend my return or will the IRS see my mistake and fix it?

Amend your return. Don't expect ANYONE to give you money they owe you without your demanding it, even the government.

Actually, the IRS smetimes DOES correct obvious mistakes and adjusts refunds upwards without being asked.

You should wait for about a month before submitting the Form 1040X to amend the return.
