What dollar amount is required for a 1099-c to be issued
Is there a specific dollar amount such as $500.00 that a creditor has to be owed for a 1099-c to be issued on a cancellation of a debt

I believe a 1099-C is issued only if the cancelled debt is $600. I am inferring this from the following: Instructions for Forms 1099-A and 1099-C (2010) - look at "Specific instuctions for 1099-C" and note that creditors are instructed to file 1099-C if the debt cancelled is $600 or more.
