Unable to E-File my NY State return!

Hi Experts,

Seeking your valuable inputs on this:

I have just filed W7 for my wife & kid along with my federal returns. Because, thats the info I got from some of the postings here.

When I did prepared my returns online, the software said - due to lack of SSN/ITIN for your dependents, you can not Efile your Federal but, you can still E-File your NY state return.

So, I went ahead and completed the E-File for NY state and went to the local IRS office to submit W-7 + Federal return.

Today, when I check the online site, it says NY state return is still not filed due lack of SSN number for my spouse.

Whatever I try, it is still going back to the same screen for Error processing.

How do I proceed now? Should I go back to IRS office & submit paper return for my State returns???

Looking forward to your replies anxiously as there are only two working days left!!!

Thanks in advance,
Siva

Normally for most of the states, you cannot file the tax return unless you have ITIN. Also you cannot e-file. (I am not sure about NY if it will accept return without ITIN).
You will file your return only after you get ITIN. Meanwhile make sure to pay all the due tax and file for extension.
