Taxes F1, opt, h1b

Hi,

I am in the process of filing my tax returns. For the calendar year 2007, I was a paid intern from jan to may still under F1 status. Then I was in OPT status with the same company until October and then received my H1B. I am from Kenya and was wondering are there any special forms that I need to fill out and what deductions can I apply?

Thanks

You will file nonresident tax return form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ and form 8843. Depending upon your State, you may also need to file state return. I don't think that Kenya has any tax treaty with the U.S. so you will only get exemption of $3,400 and itemized deduciton (like state taxes paid).
