    Non-Resident State tax withholdings
    Hello,

I am currently a resident of Georgia and I have a new permanent job starting next week in Alabama. I will be renting an apartment there at least for the remainder of the year. My wife will still be in our house in Georgia. I receive income in Georgia as well so I know I will still need to file in GA for 2009, but what are the tax implications of my situation in regard to Alabama. Will my new employer need to withhold state income taxes for AL and GA? If withholding for only one, which state should I have withheld?

If you are present in a state, then any income earned during this period, must be reported to the state.

To your resident state, you must report your worldwide income for the year.
